On the other hand the rubber is cheaper to replace than the metal lid, so in the long run the price balances out.
Jars like Le Parfait can last forever, especially now that they used stainless steel for the mechanism.

In France there is also “le Thiers”. It’s not a company but more a kind of “guild” of knife makers making knives together following strict specifications.
All the knives and components are made in France.

From what I’ve seen that did not book ask the hotels because they wanted to travel spontaneously in the country like they did in the other countries they visited.
It’s the customs that assumed that they didn’t book hotel because they were intending to work.
