Noticed an AI assistant is now in your WhatsApp? Meta’s AI feature is now being rolled out in the EU and you can’t turn it off – but you can stop the AI invasion by opting for privacy-focused alternatives.
You can’t talk with anyone, because no one uses your preferred FOSS, privacy respecting app.
You try to convince people who don’t care about privacy to use some obscure app, with higher learning curve, and lack of features to comunicate just with one person.
You can suceed in some cases, but it’s not as simple, as just downloading privacy respecting app.
Not really, I like Delta Chat because the usability, no other app gave me the same peace of mind and reliability in bad connectivity areas (which I find myself often)
As for the family and friends that use it with me, they certainly don’t use it because encryption and privacy, I don’t even advertise the privacy and freedom much or try to make them uninstall whatever other apps they use for chatting, they use it because it is the way to reach me and it solves a problem for them.
I use Delta Chat exclusively to chat with my family, I don’t even have WhatsApp installed.
Delta Chat has most of the features you need for communication the only missing thing is integrated calls that cause the phone to ring, which is not a deal breaker for me since I don’t call often, used the jitsi meet integration once with them was a bit messy to get my mom etc to figure out how to use jitsi meet in the browser while explaining via voice messages in Delta Chat, but I think adding integrated calls is in the roadmap
To show you that it doesn’t have to be a forever alone experience, in your case perhaps it will be, if you are the kind that have to run after the people close to you and accommodate to their requirements for them not to leave you behind and forgotten perhaps you are already alone…
I’m saying noone I communicate with in similar apps use Delta or whatever you call it.
Idk how on earth your takeaway from this is that I wouldn’t move away from the bigger apps when my point is the total opposite.
Yeah and they will not know it exist until you try it out and let them know about the app and help them try it out and get in contact with you.
Unlike WhatsApp that has millions to throw in marketing, come preinstalled on devices and by know “everyone uses it” other smaller projects that are not making money out of you need your help to do the “marketing” part
@Comtief@adbenitez I think the best alternative to WhatsApp, which at least isn’t META and is relatively secure, is Telegram. The rest are difficult to use because they have few users.
It is easy to disable, just follow this basic steps:
You can suceed in some cases, but it’s not as simple, as just downloading privacy respecting app.
FOSS fanboys are so delusional they forget people don’t even care for their weird apps. And if I remember correctly, Delta Chat is for XMPP

And Delta Chat is not XMPP, at least for now

10/10 foreveralone experience
My personal experience: 121 chats (just my family account I have several other accounts)
Idk why you are showing me this. I guarantee you that anyone I know has never heard of this app.

I don’t know why you are telling me all this.
You wouldn’t get it 🚬

Yes I use telegram daily, but generally everyone here where i live uses Facebook messenger.
@Comtief Try switching to Telegram. Meta is never an option. Between them and Google, you’ll never have privacy.
Dude are you OK?
@Comtief why?
i said I use telegram to which you replied i should switch to telegram. I swear half the people on this platform are high…
@Comtief Hahaha, sorry. I didn’t read it correctly. English isn’t my native language either. Cheers 👋🏻
@dbencom @Comtief Telegram doesn’t even offer E2EE by default, it’s as worse as unencrypted RCS, and you share a lot of metadata with the company.
Signal, SimpleX, even XMPP+OMEMO and Delta Chat are way better than Telegram if we talk about privacy/security.
