Me and my mates would get on the train together on online, put max bounties on each other and try to take on the entire lobby.

They’d be as well carrying on. Its in a pretty unique position as being a game that people are talking about before its even finished, which is pretty uncommon for most titles, and can be “the game they tried to ban” which did wonders for Manhunt, GTA and Postal.

I used to, back in the days of cheat codes, because they were fun.

The only real way to cheat now is to hack the game. This will mean doing shit loads of homework to learn how to do it myself, or pay for some dodgy software that may or may not contain a virus to download all my nudes and blackmail me for bitcoin while my account gets terminated for cheating so I could win a couple games on COD.

Basically everyone had a microphone because they came with the console. People actually spoke in the lobbies, party chat was rare and discord wasnt a thing yet. There was an excitement around it because its all fairly new, and pro gamer / content creator / videogame influencer etc didnt exist as career paths. Most vocal people were still racist x-phobic slur-slinging hate-jockeys, but everybody was there purely to have fun.

Lots of tiny tiny differences that by themselves are inconsequential, but added up to something big.
