The jarring years were 2006 up to about 2015. It would shift between better and worse until it reached the point where the front page was all clickbait/ragebait/advertisements and you had to rely on your own subscriptions page. Every social media site should default to subscribed/followed stuff for logged in users but got to selll paid to promote content

Today it’s 70-75%. Since then mobile phones usurped a lot of functionality that used to require a desktop/laptop. Windows dependency is going to keep trending down both in just desktop/laptop or including mobile devices

Mobile app Revolt looks better to me. Matrix seems way more established considering downloads of Element (there’s numerous Matrix applications) on Google Play and FlatHub

Wouldn’t take it out the county. Just trips to hardware/gardening stores and moving furniture. More than enough range and speed to go to work too. Any long drive I’d probably get an Accord hybrid or something. 2 vehicle family

Mods are always going to be more niche than fully marketed and funded maintained commercial storefront releases.
Skyblivion is going to be limited to what the latest Skyrim release engine supports while this remaster has Unreal Engine 5 stapled on top as the graphics renderer. They added new voice acting. People are developing mod toolchains for the remaster. It’s more substantial than the vast majority of remasters we’ve seen
Really emphasizing to the world that the US is run by bunch of idiots
Get yourself and your friends on Matrix with Element or any other GUI program for Matrix. You’re on Lemmy, try out Matrix

I still game on it more than on my PS5 or Switch. Really hard to buy games on the PS5 or Switch when they’re so much cheaper on PC. Plus how much years of paying for PS+ adds up to. 7 years of PS+ Extra is a gaming PC

A PC is more compatible with PS4 peripherals/gamepads than a PS5. Plus not paying for the privilege to play multiplayer games that a developer is hosting in AWS
The experience being so similar between a PC and a console is more an indictment on locked down PCs as consoles than against PC. E-waste

The loss of influence of American tech and banking software would cripple America further and without negative sentiment from much of the American populace. Double whammy of mistrust in media - I think worse with video games as that’s been viewed like it’s tied to the hip as a marketing arm since 90s gaming magazines.
Other whammy I think is PC gaming. Tradiitonal video game journalist rarely get the scoop on the popular game of the week in a timely manner. The popular game of the week is almost always some random game on Steam. FFVII Rebirth is the most impressive game since at least Cyberpunk 2077 and it didn’t go viral with gamers but traditional video game publications spent months writing a lot of articles about that game
Traditional video game isn’t proper to cover gaming which is now core to what is viral. Hyping up AAA games is mild attention compared to the latest Palworld. It even goes back to ~2010 when traditional games media had and continues to have no answer to esports. Starcraft 2 then LoL/Heroes of Newerth/DOTA2 then CSGO then DayZ then PUBG then Fortnite then etc. Traditional games media has very little cultural relevance these days. Not just these days, really the past decade
Cities skylines 2 was way more ambitious than the first game but they barely scaled up the size of the studio over the years and then pushed out a half baked product. I remember they tried to play the scrappy indie studio in defense of the games state at launch as if they hadn’t released the most popular city builder of the last like 15 years and oodles of DLC since along with niche hits in the City in Motion games
