I just want to thank you for making me feel not crazy. Some of my co workers won’t even consider a 13 dollar burger. But it’s from a local joint and the owners live local been doing it for 30 years. I don’t care it’s a better purchase than McDonald’s. They think I’m Mad.
Ok like I agree with 99% of what you said and prefer not to eat McDonald’s as well. Overpriced and poor quality. But labor is the kicker. The time you spent going to the store, are you eating the burgers daily if not your buns and onions will go bad pretty quick so you’re heading to the store multiple times to use that meat (if cooking one burger a time) plus time to cook. Like McDonald’s sucks for sure but where do you draw the line at what 10 dollars of your time is worth? Like this fictional one burger at a time universe sounds exhausting to me.
Obviously at scale this doesn’t matter. I don’t just buy burgers to eat one burger a day I get a load of groceries for a week at a time. Some meals are easier to make than others. Etc. I just felt the way you write your post was like time is free. It’s like the opposite of free.
I mean we will never know but 5billion is a lot no one else is going to throw this much to VR. Gaben will buy another Yacht before valve spends this much. Apple will never care about gaming. Microsoft and google both develop as though they can’t focus on any project.
Sony has a nice headset, but it’s more of a whatever than a serious evolution of the industry.
Itch.io hosts some amazing game jams, and maybe we will see Godot and Unreal take up some slack but not five billion dollars worth.
I know people don’t like Zuck and meta in general. But flooding VR with money was a good thing for the medium. Lots of small teams and independents who otherwise couldn’t have developed for VR got to.
Lemmy lately has been on an outrage fest it’s getting kind of exhausting. Topics in just about everything I follow are almost all outrage with out critical thinking.
Don’t feel bad for liking things. Your post kinda bums me out. Don’t let all this negative hype impact what will make you happy. If you can afford it. Do it. If you can’t then yeah don’t, but we as people are allowed to enjoy things.
Now that was funny. I don’t know why this absolutely had me laughing pretty much from the moral compass line on. I don’t get all the hype for silk song I haven’t tried hollow knight but the way it was glossed over was funny and I haven’t seen anyone else bring that up.

Haha. My story is similar I wasn’t super early to Pokémon but I had a deep love of early final fantasy games so I jumped right to it on gameboy. I was the perfect age.
I don’t remember who my original starter was. It could have very likely been Charmander, I know bulbs is the one that I’ve used on every subsequent play through of gen 1
I had the wall power adapters as a kid so battery life rarely kept me down. But yeah you’re right.
Honestly everything sega.
The master system had a built in maze game which was incredible to me as a kid. The Genesis/Mega Drive was fantastic but its add ons sega Cd and 32x were barely utilized. Saturn and Dreamcast both abandoned far too quickly.
I recently played my first Saturn game and honestly had my mind blown knowing what the competition was doing at the time.
Gamegear was dope too when you compared it to its contemporary.

Honestly they should have never been yearly releases. Of course everyone is burnt out on them, and nothing innovate has happened in the rally codemaster games in years. I’m sad this is happening but it’s definitely mismanagement.
