You somehow missed the original argument. No one is forced to use the app store, which is what this is generally about.

Fair, but there is an argument to be made about how hosting things are now cheaper than ever, by a huge margin. When 1GB used to cost 1 dollar, they had 30% cut. Now when that’s 0.01 not 1, 100x the difference (while games have gotten like what, 10x bigger?), it’s still 30%.
But you know what is the most damning argument against their cut? Steam earns more money per employee than next 3 companies combined and Gabe is buying fleet of yachts and multiple submarines, not even getting into real estate, while indie devs are going broke one after another. That cut might make a major difference for devs, but at this point Gabe has already too much money and won’t suffer from having less of it, which is really not consumer or developer friendly thing to do, basically hoarding riches like other billionaires
Jesse what the fuck are you talking about
You’re not really buying the code, you’re buying userbase, rights and patents (if any)
I was talking about CGI. Video editors and special effects, not actors. The editing part. You know - software?
Just to give you an example, some 15 years ago I tracked and positioned objects in footage frame by frame, which used to take a lot of time. Then Mocha came along with AI tools that automate it all, and now instead of spending 10 hours, I spend 10 minutes on a scene
Why would they change? The AI tools in movie industry have been doing miracles for decades. Especially when it comes to tracking and replacing things in footage, which jumpstarted the new era of CGI. OP, do you also want to ban movies like Avatar?
Well I was mostly browsing deep web (/j just in case)
They cost next to nothing to package and distribute (or are distributed digitally.)
Steam takes 30% cut. This, of course, does not apply to nintendo, but still
Seriously, I’ve been dreaming about world-scale videogame (world generates as you explore based on every useful satellite data we have) where you can just drive around.
Flight simulator comes close, but it’s flying.
I feel like nearly all russian porn I’ve seen consists of something unconsentual, like deep web of porn
Probably should have googled the meaning of that word first
Honestly chuckled a bit after checking out the front page and pretty much all posts were about… men
But that (making fun of men) might just be the idea behind that subreddit and I’m looking at it wrong
EDIT: I dun goofed
Kenshi. There is really not a single game out there that I can really compare it to and they have a very strong community, showing the game has a high replayability value
I genuinely can’t tell if you’re being for real. By the same logic, raytracing is ancient tech that should be abandoned.
The stuff we had when people thought Hitler is still alive on some Island and stuff we have now is barely comparable, even thought yes, they use a similar underlying technology.
Since I never had the chance to try it out myself, how was your neural network and LLMs reasoning back in the day? Imo that’s the most impressive part, not that it can write.
Seriously. Your opinions and hate aside, LLM, deep learning and reasoning models are amongst one of the most advanced software technologies available to consumers.
This post is lame
There is demand, but there are no truly great headsets. Vision can barely match quest and quest has way more contect, but it’s heavy and they seem to be slowly dropping PCVR support and I’m really not that interested in mobile apps, doesn’t even have google earth. HTC seems out of the game. Valve might come up with something in the future, but for now it’s just… barely an improvement in video quality from my PCVR headset from like 8 years ago.
I hope China enters the VR competition
OS doesn’t need permissions to access hardware
