Please don’t do unauthorized trail maintenance. You create a hell of a lot of liability and lawyers ruin everything.

Tbh, I’d just go outside. The local library or maybe a bar, both good third places. If you’re at all religious, volunteer at church. There should be a hiking group or book club, or a ton of other things. Plenty of options.
Yeah, it’s fairly decent. Nothing spectacular, but it hits its marks.
The only thing I’m concerned with is are they going to add in a cash shop.
