I think it’s also easy to misinterpret something on one post. A lot of times something that looked bigoted or dodgy opinion was just poorly done sarcasm or something.

There is a voyager frontend on web. But I think it’s only a mobile view https://vger.app/posts/lemm.ee/all
Also, voyager lets you tag users which is a godsend.
If I notice someone who is unnecessarily rude, dodgy opinions, bigoted or something, I add a tag, and if I see it is constant repetitive behaviour, I’ll block them.
Ricardo.ch is an absolute hellhole in Switzerland, they charge ridiculous fees and don’t offer any sort of protection so they basically make massive profit margins for nothing.
In this case it’s probably more ethical to use literal facebook marketplace.
There is an alternative that doesn’t charge fees, Annibis, but it was bought up by Ricardo and turned to shit. They really are the devil.
This is at best misleading. Because the average reddit sub probably has >5% monthly active users as compared to total subscriber countz
Lemmy, blahaj, zone is run by Ada, who is a woman
IMDb is owned by Amazon. Tmdb is probably the best alternative as of now.
Okay. I see what happened lol. Someone who is instance banned from my instance first posted it on this community. Then someone crossposted to another community. Since the OP was instance banned, for me the crosspost read as the OP, and then I crossposted it to the community it was originally posted in 😭.
(This is the ugly side of federation).
You are literally linking to the post I crossposted.
Do some lemmy clients not distinguish crossposts?
Edit: I’m wrong, see comments below.
The Economist is wildly expensive for Profit that is basically a spokesperson magazine for the 1%.
They villify all welfare even if it is lifesaving for hunderds of thousands, but oppose any tiny tax increases on companies or rich people.
It really is the 1%’s magazine. I really would not recommend OP to switch to that given they are looking for non-profit not corporatified sources.
WarThunder forums has the highest experts apparently
France and Spain FTW
Oh never mind then.
But yeah even a mainstream european leftist might feel out of place in certain corners of lemmy.
You probably don’t count.
Lemmy had a mix of Marxists, full on Authoritarians who claim to be communists (tankies, Maoists, Stalinilists, many Leninists), Anarchists (ie. Libertarian Socialists), and a bunch of more centrist liberals (ie. social democrats, progressives, welfare capitalists).
I’m pretty sure the person is ranting about the first three groups, in particular probably the tankies as they tend to be the least polite and most self righteous.
Misandry? I’m a man and feel fine on Blahaj.
A lot of people on blahaj are feminine men, or transfem, that may make you feel uncomfortable if you’re an old school “men will be men” patriarchal type person, but generally it’s a great crowd to be surrounded by.
I’ve seen far more misogyny on LW than misandry anywhere on lemmy.
Lemmy.Blahaj.Zone (since it has downvotes disabled) and being mindful of the communities I subscribe to really helps.
On lemmy.world you won’t see beehaw communities which are much chiller. blahaj lets you see beehaw communities.
I think we should go
FOSS non-profit > European proprietary > American proprietary
I seriously question anyone who prioritises european proprietary software over a FOSS non-profit.
I don’t agree with this particular usecase. Because I’ve personally experienced, people who shun “negativity” meaning they just completely ignore people’s suffering which often adds a devastating layer of invisibility to oppression. But probably hopefully this isn’t your case and it’s more about “doom and gloom” than people’s reality of suffering.
But anyways, I do agree that blocklists are probably a feature that lemmy needs.
