I just use Firefox, so I guess that one. I have meant to look into Vivaldi and Mullvad, and perhaps LibreWolf.

One reason is, that there is no guarantee that the forks are safe to use. Any claims for “privacy-focused”, “secure”, etc should be considered marketing terms until they are somehow sufficiently proven to be true. For example, Zen Browser is one of the many Firefox forks. Its developer has made some major mistakes and otherwise behaved in questionable manner, and have basically shown to be an inexperienced developer.

https://gohug.eu/join/alternatives/ lists Exit 50 as a service for finding European alternatives. It gives wrong information about where companies are based in. For example, it claims that Brave browser is by a Swiss company, even though it’s American. At one point, it claimed that McDonald’s is a Swiss company, but now it doesn’t say where it’s based on. Excluding one alternative, all the alternatives for McDonald’s are American (such as KFC, Domino’s Pizza, Burger King), even though it claims otherwise. I’m sure there are many other examples. This type of service should in my opinion give accurate information. Because of that, I think it should be removed.

There is an application called Mainline, or Ubuntu Mainline Kernel Installer, which should work on every Ubuntu based distro. It lets you install kernels up to the very latest one (currently 6.14.2). It has a GUI, or you can just enter sudo mainline install-latest in terminal to install the latest kernel.

If you are gaming, it’s recommended to use the latest kernel. Newer kernels not only provides support for newer hardware, but can also improve performance.

It shouldn’t delete anything. But KOReader doesn’t support Amazon’s file formats, or DRM, so you either need to convert them, or use the normal UI to read them. Jailbreaking basically lets you de-Amazon your Kindle. You can replace the default user interface and reader app with KOReader, which is more feature rich. Gentoo Linux is another distro that beginners should avoid.

In Finland, we have “heart label” (Sydänmerkki). The label has text “better choice”, and it’s intended to inform customers about products that are good for heart health. You can find this label pretty much on any product category, including things like cookies, ice cream and pizza. You are expected to know, that the label actually means “better choice for heart health within this product category”. So yea, I agree with you on that intuitive part.

For those who have an Amazon Kindle, it’s currently possible to jailbreak almost all Kindle models, thanks to a new jailbreaking tool released earlier this year. That includes the latest generation devices, as long as they haven’t been updated to the latest firmware that was released last month.

Country of origin is a bit of a fuzzy concept when we talk about Linux. For example, Linux Mint (Ireland) is based on Ubuntu (UK), which is based on Debian (Global, but founded by American). So is Linux Mint Irish, British, Global or American? Also, every Linux distribution comes with software that has been written by numerous people all around the world.

It also says that Kentucky Fried Chicken is United Kingdom, and McDonald’s is Switzerland.

The iOS app was updated 7 years ago, and clicking the Google Play button leads to “page not found”. Seems abandoned to me.

Their data is crowd sourced, and they seem to have (or have had) users in many countries, so products available in your country might be available. But I haven’t used it so I can’t say what information they provide or how accurate it is.
