Mantasaison?
Mantasaison?
The blurb through a translator:
What is the free software that the state advises in 2025?
The interministerial base of free software has still grown. From now on, there are more than 500 references in the catalog of IT programs that the State advises its administrations. A long -term job, started at the start of the past decade. 473 free software referenced in May 2024, 529 in
The things we do make don’t last long.
I assume you’re from the states? I’ve had my small Made in USA Thermos for 10 years. It’s indestructible.
I could probably think of a few other good and durable things coming from the US - all sorts of guitars, banjos, ukuleles?
I have a separate encrypted partition that I can mount/decrypt/unmount with my filemanager (or something like pmount) by clicking on those little arrows. Much nicer than whatever on-top-of-the-filesystem solution I used previously. It happens to be on a microSDcard that just sits in its slot forever.
Ah, the dream of a libertarian paradise.
The promise of the EU were free markets
Free as in fewer hurdles between nations, not as in “the market will take care of everything”.
but the opposite is happening.
Yeah, no. The EU has always strived for a balance there. You bringing up the spectre of “planning economy” is just fearmongering.
You wouldn’t happen to work at the Internet Research Agency?
Did not happen here in Finland just a few days ago.
The way I see it, they check mostly for stuff that could result in unsafe breakage/conditions, endangering yourself and others.
Of course misaligned front tires aren’t good even if you ignore tire wear, but they don’t make your car a death trap.
Not saying I’m agreeing with this, just my observation. Some of the things that are important to them, while others aren’t even checked, the logic eludes me.
I feel I’m doing Putin a favor by comparing him to this amazing piece of internet history but here we are.
I join in OP’s criticism, but Euronews is not owned by Orbán. It’s still a French news outlet and needs to adhere to EU law. Not that that means it can’t spread mis/disinformation.
Wikipedia:
Euronews is currently majority-owned by Alpac Capital, a company indirectly linked to the Hungarian government of Viktor Orbán.
The same could be true for a Canadian news outlet. Not saying it is though.
Thanks OP. The more you know, the longer the list of untrustworthy “news” sites gets.
But please be more precise. What you wrote:
Euronews is linked to the Hungarian government and Viktor Orbán.
What wikipedia says:
Euronews is currently majority-owned by Alpac Capital, a company indirectly linked to the Hungarian government of Viktor Orbán.
Ah, the EU shines again with what it does best. 😐
Absolutely. Go for it.
But we’re dealing with a country that does not respect international treaties with “The West”. And it’s worse than it’s been during the Cold War.
This is why we have to protect ourselves with other means. Helping Ukraine to win the war means protecting Europe as well. Let’s never forget that, now that we have media-savvy bullies pushing for a “peaceful resolution” that is nothing more than a wolf in sheep’s clothing.
Nevertheless, all international court proceedings against Russia are important for so many reasons.
Technically, if you had tons of time and a solid understanding of Linux inside and out, you might be able to pull it off, but it’s not worth the hassle at all.
This is what I thought. Preferably “from the outside” i.e. while the system isn’t running. But all you “saved” in the end is the filesystem the original OS was installed on, and possibly personal data (which probably is the reason OP is even asking).
Theoretically yes, practically no.
+1 for openSUSE btw.
Personally I don’t use a separate /home
partition. Software versions can differ significantly between distros and this has plenty of potential to effectively fuck up your system anyhow*.
I use a separate data partition instead, and hook it into my home with symlinks. Pictures, Documents, Videos etc. - these are usually those that take the most disk space anyhow, by a large margin.

There are many ways to simply share coordinates like you would share a weblink - click on it, the appropriate app opens it.
Not sure if I remember correctly, but they look like gps://....
I currently use Google maps
As far as services are concerned I recommend openstreetmaps and its various web/app/desktop frontends. But ulktimately it will be up to each family member how they choose to open such links.

Trump administration’s sweeping tariffs have ruffled feathers across the world
Understatement of the year.
Together, the “big three” account for more than 50% of the continent’s cloud market.
Meaning Europe. This has been a known problem long before Trump 2.0. I hope feathers are now ruffled sufficiently to do something about it. The plans are certainly there.
edit: I agree with most commenters here that the time for peaceful protest is over (point 10). I just liked the John Lennon quote very much, and the message: don’t let yourself get triggered in a way that just makes things worse for you.
The headline seems to suggest a parity that just isn’t there imo.
Also, as things stand right now, silence does not seem the worst option.
