Curious thought: Is this meme becoming less relevant as time goes on? I feel like many more dads now are/were gamers and wouldn’t be as obtuse when it comes to their kids playing games.

Pretty much. Anyone who is 50 years old today would have been 8 years old when the NES launched. Lots of dads and mums in their 30s will have been hitting their teenage years well into the PSX era.

Not everyone is or was a gamer, but very few parents with young families today will be old enough to predate gaming being widespread and mainstream.

Honestly just the fact that they enjoy seeing their kid relax and have fun is news. My dad wasn’t always so supportive of not working all the time.

My son is the right age for this meme. I sneak up behind him and say random embarrassing stuff into his mic to mess with him. Or I come by and give him a bean dip. We have light hearted fun messing with each other.

He was on a call one day and I came by and played dumb and said “Hey. Can anyone explain what the heck skibidi toilet rizzler means?” And the discord thought it was hilarious.

I mean, mine played Civilization games, so there may be a reason to this.
