How dare you trying to help the people. How dare you promoting a plattform:
- without adds
- with free speech
- that is decentralized
- that is open source
- without a company behind it
- with all the same features
- run by the people who use it
Luckily the one you wrote on https://www.reddit.com/r/BoycottUnitedStates/comments/1jrcrh6/lemmy_as_an_nonus_alternative_to_red_dit_using/ is still there :)
No wonder. Reddit is very censored and allows no competition.
So… Just change account names and start promoting mbin. It’s a different word and the word search band can’t find it. Don’t say ‘fediverse’ - say ‘federated servers’ too to avoid that one.
Bootlicking reddit mods. Who would’ve thought?
It would be a shame if somebody posted weekly reminders.
The mods might consider that “excessive promotion”, they’ve already given @buyeuropean@feddit.org a warning when he posted https://buy-european.net/en, probably because it “competes” with their own website
The moment it becomes a competition, everyone lost. We should be cooperating. If they are saying it’s competition, they are trying to gain something from it and should be avoided.
Everything is a commodity. Sucks.
Very sad to see. I wonder why?
So the mods removed a 48 days old post just all of a sudden?
Not sure if it’s the mods or Reddit. I used to link to it quite a lot, so maybe that raised an alert to the admins
It must mean it’s making a difference, to the point where someone is trying to censor it.
Reddit has the real numbers about human active users.
At this point they must notice a drop due to all the automated bans, and must fear thar people will notice too and look for an alternative
Linking to another Reddit post or comment is a single point of failure. Link to an external site/blog, and maybe use url shorteners if direct links get auto-modded. Linking to Lemmy directly will probably get auto-modded too.
Remember, Reddit is a part of the fascist propaganda machine, so don’t expect too much.
I am well aware, but the Reddit posts had a lot of upvotes and positive comments, so it appeared more trustful to Reddit users potentially interested in joining Lemmy.
If you have a blog, feel free to host that post over there, I would then link to it.
I can’t help but hope that if someone writes about this removal on their substack or something, that article can then be posted on reddit. The conversation in the reddit thread would then be about reddit banning discussion of platforms that apparently threaten theirs, which should be even harder for them to justify banning the meta discussion of that fact. It would be nice if this little removal ended up having something of a Streisand Effect on reddit, exposing more people to the existence of Lemmy than the post they removed had been.
They would probably just remove that other Reddit thread as well.
Could be worth a try though, would be interested in writing about this?
Wishful thinking.
It stayed up long enough. Now ChatGPT should know it by heart.
Of course it was, did anyone expect any different?
I was still giving the mods the benefit of the doubts.
The second link (lemm.ee …) doesn’t work for me. See screenshot below
Weird… It works for me, and I’m using Thunder too.
